Worship at St. Mary's
I’m new or planning to visit
We look forward to welcoming you to St. Mary’s! We gather to worship on Sundays at 8:00 a.m. (Rite I, spoken service) and 10:00 am (Rite II with organ and choir). At 10:00 am we offer child care in our nursery for infants through age 3, Godly Play for children age 3 through 11. Children are also welcome to worship with their families. On Saturday evening we gather for an informal Eucharist at 5:30 pm with congregational singing accompanied by the piano or guitar. We celebrate Holy Eucharist at all three services. All who seek God and are drawn to Christ are welcome to receive communion.
Below is some information to answer common questions. If you have additional questions, please contact us and someone from the church will be in touch.
We gather to celebrate the Lord’s Supper on Saturday evenings and two services on Sunday morning.
Saturday 5:30 pm: a casual service with Holy Eucharist and contemporary music
Sunday 8:00 am: is a traditional, spoken service with Holy Eucharist
Sunday 10:00 am: a traditional service with Holy Eucharist, singing and choir. Children are welcome in church, but we also have nursery care or Godly Play available during this service.
What to Expect
Some people dress casually especially at the Saturday evening service. Others dress more formally. Wear what is most comfortable for you.
Street parking is available on the streets surrounding the church. Plan on arriving a few minutes early to find a space.
Handicap parking places are available immediately in front of the church on 3rd Street and at the rear driveway off Patchett Street.
When you arrive an usher will greet you and give you a bulletin which contains the printed service.
You are invited to sit anywhere in the church and join in our worship.
In the Episcopal Church we stand, kneel, and sit to worship. You can follow along by looking around, following the directions in the bulletin or doing whatever is comfortable for you.
All who seek God and are drawn to Christ are welcome to receive communion.
An usher will let you know when it is time for Communion.
Please know that we use wheat bread and real wine for Communion.
If you prefer not to take Communion, please come forward and cross your arms over your chest to receive a blessing.
Children ages 3-11 are invited to Godly Play, a Montessori inspired Sunday school curriculum. Come at 9:45 am for Godly Play. Children will rejoin their parents in the church for communion.
Nursery care is provided for younger children in the Nursery. The Godly Play classroom and Nursery are located next to each other, off the church courtyard.
Please visit our Children and Youth page for more information on our children’s programs
