St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Offerings
For 2019, the Vestry selected the following three organizations to receive one-third of the Thanksgiving offerings – Napa Food Bank, Napa Salvation Army and The Table. These organizations provide food and nourishment to people in our local community and rely on community support to do so. For parishioners who care to write a check, please note on the memo line “Thanksgiving Offering” (and if your check is for your pledge, please write “pledge” on the memo line so it gets credited correctly). Any cash received through plate offerings will be split evenly and donated to these three organizations.
Napa Food Bank (http://canv.org/food-nutrition/food-bank/) provides a variety of nutritious food to low-income individuals, families and seniors, and non-profit organizations throughout Napa County through four programs: 1) Emergency Food Pantries; 2) Senior Brown Bag; 3) the USDA Commodity Program; and 4) Non-Profit Access. The Food Pantry Network allows low-income residents to receive a monthly allotment of food from one of seven locations throughout the county, which together serve an average of 1,000 households per month.
Napa Salvation Army (https://napa.salvationarmy.org/) offers a number of programs and services for the most vulnerable people in our community. Since 1884, the Salvation Army has been serving Napa Valley’s struggling community members through housing, meal, employment, education, and bill pay assistance programs as well as spiritual guidance.
The Table (www.napatable.org) feeds Napa’s most vulnerable population in a welcoming and respectful environment. Since 1985, 25 community groups, including St. Mary’s, have prepared and served meals daily to disadvantaged members of our community, helping offset the negative effects of food insecurity.
Many blessings of Thanksgiving to you for your generosity to our brothers and sisters who struggle to feed their families and themselves year-round.
