Stewardship

St. Mary’s Foundation

Saint Mary’s Vestry established the Saint Mary’s Church Foundation in 2000. The purpose of St Mary’s Foundation is to encourage Christian stewardship and provide a means whereby Christians can give to the work of the Church. The foundation accepts bequests in wills, stocks, bonds, insurance, precious metals, transfers of other property, and receives and administers these gifts in a manner consistent with the locality and devotion to its Lord expressed by the grantor and in accordance with the policies of the congregation.

The Foundation has two funds. The first is the St Mary’s Episcopal Church Endowment Fund. The purpose of the fund is to add to the financial stability of the parish by providing income to supplement the mission of the Church. The EndowmentFund receives gifts, grants and bequests to be held in perpetuity, the principal of the endowment Fund cannot be spent on operating cost; only the interest income maybe used. The Funds are invested in Stocks and bonds by the foundation committee.

The second Fund is the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Special Gifts Fund. The purpose of this Special Gifts Fund is to add to the financial stability of the Parish by providing income to supplement the mission of the Church and to provide a source of funds for capital needs, such as building and maintenance or property acquisition. The Special gift Fund receives unrestricted gifts or gifts not designated as endowments.

Stewardship

St. Mary’s conducts a year-round program, which promotes our understanding of how to live a life of Christian Stewardship and to provide a growing appreciation of the church’s mission and ministry.  Funds from our Stewardship programs are used to support the clergy and the many activities of the ministries, as well as, supporting the upkeep of our beautiful St. Mary’s church.

Vestry

The Vestry serves as the “board of directors” of the parish. Twelve parishioners are elected to serve on the Vestry for three-year terms. Each Vestry person also serves as a member of one of six Vestry committees. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month except July. The persons who serve on the Vestry are nominated and elected at our annual parish reunion for all the members.
