Children’s Programs

There are numerous programs for children who are part of the St. Mary's family. Children's Chapel is the most regularly occurring. Children’s Chapel is a gathering of children starting at 5 yrs old and going thru 5th grade that learn about God through music, liturgy and the arts! The morning starts at 9:45 AM and goes until 10:30 AM, when the children join their families in church during the 10:00 AM Service! Two adults per week lead worship on a rotating basis. Volunteers for Children’s Chapel and other events for children are always needed and welcome. Other events include a Welcome Back Breakfast, Advent Wreath-making, Epiphany Pageant, Easter Party, and Vacation Bible School.

Cursillo

The Spanish word Cursillo means “short course” and is a course held on a three day weekend on Christianity. To most participants it is a new breath of life, a dynamic new expression of the Holy Spirit. It can be an experience of living for three days in a community of persons who are consciously and purposely trying to live as Christians. Part of the purpose of a Cursillo weekend is to help us recognize Christ's action in our lives and the lives of others.

Education For Ministry (EFM)

The seminar group is the nucleus of the EFM program. A group of six to twelve participants and a trained mentor meet weekly over the course of a nine-month academic year. Through study, prayer, and reflection, EFM groups move toward a new understanding of the fullness of God's kingdom.

Participants are given weekly assignments to study with the help of resource guides. Through discussion and guided reflection, the seminars furnish an opportunity to deepen understanding of the reading materials.

By examining their own beliefs and their relationship to our culture and the tradition of our Christian faith, participants can learn what it means to be effective ministers in the world and come In coming to terms with the notion that everything we do has potential for manifesting the love of Christ, we discover that our ministry is at hand wherever we turn.

Youth Group

This ministry provides spiritual guidance for the High School and Jr. High (7th through 12th grades) youth of St. Mary’s. Jesus called us to love one another and for young people today, that means being present to them. This program aims to facilitate and nurture their relationship with God through adults who are authentic and alive in Christ. We engage in playful and serious activities such as Bible study and prayer, which help youth to discover that personhood is a free gift of God. Through various outreach activities, our youth also discover what it means to live a life of compassion and mercy. The youth at St. Mary’s gather once a week.
