Church Women United

Church Women United is an ecumenical group from many churches in the Napa Valley. Celebration days are held quarterly at member churches. Board meetings occur the first Monday of each month at the First Baptist Church in Napa. Our ministries include the operation of  the Church Women United Clothing Center and a shoe fund to provide new shoes for school-aged children. Donations of clothing and/or money are always needed.

Foyer Groups

“Foyer” groups are formed each fall from a list of parishioners who have signed up for a round-robin of meals and fellowship in their homes. Groups of eight randomly selected persons collectively decide on the format, dates and times of the get-togethers. Singles and couples are always welcome.

House Angels

The House Angels compliments the work of the Hearth Guild by:

  • Providing rides to the doctor, grocery store, church and other local destinations.
  • Offering assistance with ordinary household chores such as  emptying trash cans and taking toters to the street, dumping dead flowers and putting vases in the dishwasher, refreshing the cat box, picking up and posting mail, etc... the ordinary daily tasks that often prove difficult when someone is under doctor’s orders not to move around much. We do not offer housecleaning or nursing services but referrals for low cost services are available.
  • Gathering information on where to get free medical supplies, plus a list of other community resources.

Kairos is a lay-led Christian ministry, which conducts a highly structured program at San Quentin State Prison. The Kairos program begins with a weekend, which allows participants to witness Christ's love through the servitude of Christian Kairos volunteers. During this event the participants are given the opportunity to experience a spiritual renewal accepting God's call to a life of Christian witness and service to one another during their stay in the institution, and beyond. After the weekend, participants are encouraged to establish strong Christian communities within the institution. See the Kairos website for more information: www.kairossanquentin.org.

P.I.E. Ministry

Are you in need of extra prayer for yourself or a loved one? One phone call from you will set our chain into action. Members of the chain will immediately pray, then call the next person on their list. If you need prayer or would like to be a part of the chain, please let us know.

Scrip Program

St. Mary’s Scrip Program enables us to receive a donation from participating grocery stores at no cost to our parishioners when they shop. Our program is based on electronic scrip (e-Scrip). Lucky’s, Safeway, Raley’s and Nob Hill provide cards that are presented at the time of purchase, and a percentage of the purchase amount is credited to St. Mary’s Scrip account.

St. Elizabeth’s Guild

The Guild meets at 1 P.M. on the first Wednesday of each month, September through May. Guest speakers and light refreshments enhance the meeting. Jars of peanut butter are donated by members every meeting resulting in hundreds of pounds given each year to the Salvation Army. The Guild holds fundraisers such as the Spring Tea and spring and fall Bake Sales and Basket Raffles for Easter and the winter holidays. All funds received are distributed back into the church and community. Members also hold an Advent Party, host four coffee hours each year, drive for meals on wheels, and maintain a “food barrel” in the church entry to collect food stuffs for St. Mary's donations to the Napa Food Bank.

St. Mary’s Guild

St. Mary’s Guild is a group of ladies who gather from September through June on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 1 P.M. We meet in the Guild Room for worship and fellowship. Each year we hold craft sales to support our community charities and church projects. All churchwomen are invited to join us. Transportation can be arranged.

The Table

The Table of Napa feeds over 150 people every day (nearly 40,000 meals in 2011) Monday through Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 4:45 P.M. except for major holidays. Many of our recipients are short on funds, without kitchens, between jobs or under-employed, older folks without cooking skills and include people who may be living in their cars or on the streets. St. Mary’s parishioners volunteer to help cook and serve food for this valuable community outreach. St. Mary’s day at The Table is the third Monday of each month.
