Thanksgiving Offering

St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Offerings

This year the Vestry has decided the Thanksgiving offerings will be split evenly between two local organizations -- The Table and Napa Foodbank. For parishioners who care to write a check, please note on your check “Thanksgiving Offering” in the memo line (and if your check is for your monthly pledge, please write “Pledge” on the memo line to make sure it gets credited correctly). Any cash received through plate offerings will be split evenly and donated to these two organizations.

The Table (www.napatable.org) feeds Napa’s most vulnerable population in a welcoming and respectful environment. Since 1985, 25 community groups, including St. Mary’s, have prepared and served meals daily to disadvantaged members of our community, helping offset the negative effects of food insecurity. A donation of $10 can feed 5 people, $50 can feed 25, and so on.

Napa Food Bank (http://canv.org/food-nutrition/food-bank/) provides a variety of nutritious food to low-income individuals, families and seniors, and non-profit organizations throughout Napa County through four programs: Emergency Food Pantries; Senior Brown Bag; the USDA Commodity Program; and Non-Profit Access. The Food Pantry Network allows low-income residents to receive a monthly allotment of food from one of seven locations throughout the county. Together they serve an average of 1,000 households per month.

Many blessings of Thanksgiving to you for your generosity to our community members who struggle to feed their families and themselves year-round.

Stewardship

Stewardship is the way of life to Christian service

Take to heart the words of Psalm 24: “The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it”. We should recognize that part of following Jesus is a need to give as he has given to us. This a source of peace and happiness to all Christians. As such, the Stewardship campaign is a time for you to return a portion of your time, talent and resources to God in a spirit of gratitude for what he has given to you. As we think about giving, it is essential that we consider the gifts we have received and shared, and the role St. Mary’s plays in our lives. As we reflect on what St. Mary’s means to each of us and our call for Stewardship, it is important to consider our Parish’s needs and community during the transition that is currently underway.

If you did not pick-up your pledge card during the last two week-ends, it will be mailed to you this week. Extras are available in the office.

Our Goals for this year:

o   100% participation of current pledgers with at least one ministry participation.

o   10 new pledgers.

o   $275,000 in pledges to fund 2019 Operating Costs (equal to 2018)

o   $20,000 in pledges to fund Programs based on results of Listening Sessions and CAT survey

o   Continued support of St. Mary’s Endowment and Special Gifts Fund.

Please return your pledge card at the service, drop by office or mail.    Thank you for your support!
