Stewardship – A Way of Life!

“True Joy, happiness and inner peace come from giving of ourselves to others. A happy life is a life for others.” – Henri Nouwen

We will be distributing 2019 Stewardship Pledge Cards on October 6/7 and 13/14. This is your opportunity to commit a portion of your time, talent and resources to God in a spirit of gratitude for what he has given you. Our goals for this year:

·      100% participation of current pledgers with at least one ministry participation.

·      10 new pledgers

·      Raise $295,000 supporting 2019 Operations ($275,000 flat to 2018) and Outreach contribution ($20,000 responding to the Listening Session and CAT survey)

·      Continued support for St. Mary’s Endowment or Special Gifs Fund.

Thanks to those who have responded to the call for volunteers to assist with this ministry!

Evening of Elegance

Evening of Elegance - Fun, Fellowship and Fundraising

October 20, 2018 at the Silverado Country Club 6pm

An event in support of St Mary’s operations and a capital raise

for renovation and remodeling of the bathrooms!

What’s Planned? The evening begins with hors d’oeuvres and champagne while you peruse the fun Silent Auction goodies.

Also visit the Wall of Wine - kind of like a liquid grab bag!  For only $10 you pick a brown bag covered bottle of wine. You might get the house red or perhaps the Mondavi to Kalon Vineyard, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 2012.

The festivities continue with an exciting Live Auction! We’ll have some old favorites on offer (Dinner by the River; Bocce and Dinner at the Olmsted’s) and some new surprises as well.

Want to Sign Up? Beginning Sept 22, tickets for the event will be on sale after each service. Each ticket is $95 and includes dinner and wine.

Can’t Attend?   To offer some of the fun of the evening to those who can’t make it, there will be a new raffle - The Golden Ticket. $25 buys you a chance to win your choice of ANY auction item available. ONLY 100 of these tickets will be sold. So you have the chance to win a really great prize, for an affordable price - with no need to be there to win.

What About?  We are also providing parishioners a chance to “underwrite” The Bathrooms, some portion of our new facilities. Bathroom Benefactor Sponsorships have been established to allow people to fund a specific aspect of the bathroom remodel. You will receive a letter shortly with more information.

Donations Neede

Evening of Elegance - in support of St. Mary’s and

renovation and remodeling of the bathrooms!

The event’s fundraising programs need your donations.

Please be generous and creative!

Silent Auction

We are looking for your talent and treasure! In the past we’ve had art works and crafts, baskets, event tickets and lots more. We’d appreciate any items you feel would be valued and will raise money for the event.

At all services on the weekends of Sept. 22/23 and 29/30 you can leave your donations with the Evening of Elegance ticket sellers in the courtyard. Please provide a written description of your item.  If you need help with transporting an item, please call Anne Saunders (503-367-4578).

To ensure when people buy a Golden Ticket they can tell us which item they want if their ticket is chosen, we need to ask for all donations by: September 31st.

Wine Wall

We need everyone to play along in building our Wall of Wine!  We’re looking for donations from all parishioners. Please donate a bottle or a case to stock the wine wall.

Starting Oct. 1st there will be wine boxes in the Parish hall for all your donations. (Please make sure donations have a minimum retail value of $10).

WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!

LOVE and HOPE!

This is what Operation Christmas Child is all about according to Yves Dushime, who at the age of 11 in Togo, Africa was a Samaritan Purse shoebox recipient. (to hear Yves’ amazing story please go to napavalleychurch.org - click on Sermons, scroll to August 19, 2018 real life-changing stories, click on watch) Marilyn Bennett, Pam Bonotto, Diane Dexter and Mary Hamler had the pleasure of hearing Yves, a young man now living in Buffalo, NY but born in a refugee camp in the Congo after his family fled from the Rwandan genocide, speak in Napa of how the red and green shoebox changed his life and transformed his community. You may hear Yves’ speech at the above website and hear for yourself how St. Mary’s, through our shoebox donations, is bringing love and hope to the young children who receive these gifts of real toothbrushes, real school supplies, real toys and our love and prayers. Yves said what touched him the most was the personal note that said “God loves you, Jesus loves you, I love you.” Love and gifts from a complete stranger reaffirmed Yves’ faith in God. Operation Christmas Child uses simple gifts to plant these seeds of Love and Hope.
